Local SEO and Google Business Profile

When people search nearby, make sure they can find you.

Being online is only the beginning. I help the right people find you by improving your presence on Google, Maps and the channels your customers actually use. We set goals together and measure progress, taking competition and distance into account in local searches.

First things first

The map listing is not the same as your website

In a local search, Google may show a map with business listings as well as organic website results. Your Business Profile needs the right categories, services, details, photos and reviews; your website needs useful content, a clear structure and a sound technical foundation.

Local visibility is earned through consistent work. I refine your profile, strengthen its relevance and help your business explain itself more clearly. Distance and competition matter too, but there is still a great deal we can improve to bring you closer to the people searching for what you offer.

What I review

The work, step by step

01 / DANCAU

Google Business Profile

Categories, description, services, opening hours, images and business details.

02 / DANCAU

Consistent business information

I check that the published name, address and contact details are consistent and that there are no obvious duplicate listings.

03 / DANCAU

Genuine reviews

We set up simple ways to ask real customers for honest feedback. I do not buy reviews or manufacture ratings.

04 / DANCAU

Your website and local pages

I improve the structure and content, and create location pages only when they provide specific, genuinely useful information.

05 / DANCAU

Tracking

I review the available profile data and organic performance to decide what to improve next.

Working together

Ownership verification, photos, profile access and day-to-day management also require input from the business.

When it may not be the priority

Not every business needs the same thing

If location is irrelevant to your audience, a local listing may not be the priority. If your website already gets traffic but nobody gets in touch, the problem may lie in the content or the contact process instead.

Before recommending a service, I look at how people find you today and what realistic opportunities there are for improvement.

Timescale and price

A practical plan with clear goals

SEO takes sustained work, and specific results cannot be guaranteed. We analyse the starting point, improve your Business Profile and website, and review the data together at regular intervals. Moving from the second page of results to third place can make an enormous difference; the right target depends on your market and competition.

Some changes show results quickly, but meaningful visibility usually takes months of continued work. Competition, the quality of the starting point and, on maps, the customer’s distance all play a part. I study your case first and then propose a budget based on the work it actually needs.

We can look at local SEO on its own, or build a new website with search visibility considered from the outset. Scope and cost are agreed before work begins.

SEO and international visibility

Help people find you beyond Google too.

On the Costa Brava, local customers and visitors from many countries search in different ways. A useful strategy considers their languages, search habits and preferred platforms; I do not create listings indiscriminately.

Google Business Profile and Maps

I work on categories, services, opening hours, photos, consistent business details and a sensible approach to earning genuine reviews. I also review the website’s local content and the searches that matter.

Apple Maps, Bing Places and Yandex Maps

Depending on the customers you have and those you want to attract, I assess whether other maps and search platforms are available and genuinely useful before creating or optimising listings.

SEO for international searches

Where appropriate, I recommend content in your customers’ languages, useful information for travellers and local pages with genuine substance, rather than duplicating towns or translating content without a clear reason.

Distance matters too.

Positions on Google Maps vary according to where the customer is. I optimise the profile, business data and relevance to increase the chances of appearing in more useful searches and to track how that visibility develops.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about SEO

What is the difference between SEO and local SEO?

SEO aims to improve a website’s visibility in search engines. Local SEO also focuses on searches with geographic intent, Google Business Profile and the signals that matter to businesses in a particular area.

What can be improved on my Google Business Profile?

I can review the category, services, opening hours, photos, contact details and whether the information matches what appears elsewhere. Some changes and verification steps may require your involvement.

How long does SEO take to show results?

It depends on the starting point and the competition. Some improvements can be seen quickly, while others take longer. We work on the areas we agree, measure progress and aim for sustained growth in visibility.

Will I appear in the top three on Google Maps?

The goal is visible, measurable improvement in the searches that matter to your business. We start from your current position, work on content and your Business Profile, and review progress with you. Results depend on competition, distance and the work carried out.

Does local SEO work for every business?

Not always. If customers do not look for providers by location, or the business cannot handle more demand, other improvements may deserve priority. I assess that before proposing any work.

Do I need to hire web design and SEO together?

No. You can hire web design, SEO or both. First we work out what your business actually needs.

How do we start?

Tell me about your idea on WhatsApp, without endless forms. Explain what your business does and what you would like to improve, and we will go through the options and next steps.

Do you work only with Google, or with other search engines and maps too?

It depends on where your current and future customers are. Across much of Europe I usually prioritise Google and, where useful, Bing. For other markets we can also work with Apple Maps, Yandex and other relevant platforms. We choose channels according to your audience, not to collect listings for the sake of it.

Why does my business appear on Maps from one street but not another?

Google considers factors including relevance, distance from the person searching and the prominence of the business. I work on what can be optimised; we cannot change the real location or guarantee a fixed position.

Can I attract international customers visiting the Costa Brava?

Yes. I look at the countries and languages that matter to the business and prioritise localised content and the search or map platforms that make sense for its current customers and the people it wants to reach.
